Classic American Goulash
Recipe make 6 - 8 servings
Whatcha Need
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 1 can tomato sauce
- n1 can diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Whatcha Do
- Preheat oven to 350℉.
- In a large Dutch oven or deep skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper and cook until softened, about 5–7 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook for about 1 minute.
- Add the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef broth. Stir in the salt, pepper, paprika, oregano, basil, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the uncooked macaroni and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, just until the pasta begins to soften.
- Transfer mixture to a lightly greased casserole dish. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until bubbly and lightly browned around the edges.
- Let stand about 5 minutes before serving.
