Mary Anne’s Twinkie Cake

No, it's not a cake that tastes like a Twinkie. It's a cake made out of Twinkies! If it sounds perfectly sinful, it's because it is. And better yet, no baking involved! So if baking isn't really your thing and you need a sweet potluck dish, then this one is for you. And it is always fun to see people's reaction when you tell them it is made from Twinkies.

Recipe makes one cake; 12 generous servings

Whatcha Need:

  • 1 box (of 10) Hostess Twinkies
  • 4 large bananas, sliced
  • 1 can (20oz) crushed pineapple (drained, but not pressed dry)
  • 1 large box Vanilla instant pudding (mix according to directions on box)
  • 1 tub Cool Whip, 12-ounce
  • Maraschino cherries and pecans for garnish (optional)

Whatcha Do:

  1. Remove nine Twinkie cakes from wrappers. Cut each in half lengthwise from top to bottom. Place Twinkie halves in 9 x 13 baking dish with cream side facing up.

  2. Layer sliced bananas, pineapple, pudding, and Cool Whip over Twinkies in that order. Sprinkle chopped cherries (drained well on paper towels) and chopped pecans over the top.

  3. Keep refrigerated.
